Every year in the UK thousands of greyhounds die because they are too old or slow to race. It's not just old or injured ones ether, it's perfectly healthy, loving dogs who have A whole life ahead of them. They are such affectionate dogs, very rarely aggressive and great with children. The walk well too, I have never had a greyhound pull me on the lead. They are quiet and considerate, and contrary to popular belief, only need 2 brisk walks a day. However, greyhounds love to run, there is no denying that. Also, greyhound owners have achieved a pretty bad reputation through the media and Internet, not all owners kill their dogs once they are finished with them. There are plenty of ways you can help; there is most probaly a greyhound rescue centre near you. Just google "greyhound rescue ____" (put your state/county in the blank) and you will see there are lots of people willing to help. Here are a few links I found useful (UK only)- www.greyhoundrescuefife.com/ - greyhound rescue fife www.grwe.com/ - greyhound rescue west of England www.greyhoundandlurcherrescue.co.uk/ Greyhound and lurcher rescue www.retiredgreyhounds.co.uk/ - retired greyhound trust Feel free to post links to rescue centers in your area What do you guys think about the whole thing? The racing industry and such?
